Dental Cleanings & Dental Exams
Dental cleanings and dental exams are the foundation of what we do here at Community Shores Dental. Our Norton Shores, MI dentist and staff offer top-notch services to patients of all ages so that you can maintain a healthy, beautiful smile for many, many years to come!
The first thing that a patient is going to be experience is being greeted by our wonderful front desk staff. The primary thing that we're trying to do is establish a solid relationship with a patient. You're going to be asked a lot of questions related to who you are and what it is that you're personally concerned about. One of my hygienists and my assistants will go through and take the necessary diagnostic information so that we can do a proper exam. Then they're going to call in one of us, one of the dentists, to do introductions. The speech that I always give my new patients is that my job is really to diagnose and show you what the best dentistry is that I can provide for you. Your job is to decide if you want to do any of it. You can always choose to do some of it, all of it, or none of it at all. That really takes the pressure off the table.
Oftentimes people feel pressured into doing dental work, and we don't do that. If something's an emergency I'm certainly going to tell somebody that, but I also think it's unfair to patients to not tell them everything that's going on in their mouth. Certainly there's an opinion involved. If you go to ten different dentists you will probably find ten different opinions. I'm very, very clear that this is my opinion, and I'm also able to show them on our video monitors what it is that I'm seeing and why. In addition to the x-rays, we take video images and photos of the individual teeth so that we can show them.
Below we have provided some general information about our dental cleanings and dental exams services and how they can help you. If you have any additional questions about our services or are concerned about your dental health, please contact our Norton Shores, MI dentist right away. We will be delighted to help you get all of the information you need to make the best decision for your smile.
Why Dental Cleanings And Dental Exams Are Important
Aside from maintaining great home dental hygiene, professional dental cleanings and dental exams are the best way to make sure you never have to deal with major dental issues. The main purpose of a professional dental cleanings and dental exams session is to diagnose any existing issues, plan to treat them, and rid the mouth of any harmful substances that shouldn’t be there (calculus). Our Norton Shores, MI dentist and staff can help you catch dental problems while they are small and allow you to avoid more serious problems that come with extra costs, discomfort, and time.
What To Expect From Your First Appointment
Your first appointment at our office will be pretty simple. First, you will check in at our front desk. You will be greeted with a smile and asked to fill out some new patient forms (if you haven’t already). Once we are ready for you, you will undergo a series of X-rays and exams to check for any signs of a problem. We will then perform your professional cleaning. At some point, we will also take a moment to visually check your smile for any signs of oral cancer or other disease. This appointment should take only about an hour.
Other General Dentistry Services
In addition to our cleaning and exam services, we offer a few other general dentistry options to provide at your checkup. We can help you prevent disease and decay with dental sealants, fluoride treatments, nutritional counseling, and more. We also can fill cavities, treat gum disease, and protect your teeth with mouthguards. Please visit our page on general dentistry to learn more. We are here for all of your dental needs!
