For somebody who actually needs them, dental veneers provide a chance for us to completely resurface what you see on a tooth. I compare it to if you go into a kitchen, and you like everything about the kitchen except for the doors on all the cabinets. You can easily go through and take those doors off and put new doors on, and you've got a whole new look. We can do it minimally invasive with techniques that remove as little enamel as possible. Sometimes we can do it with removing no enamel, and that enables us to give a completely new smile, and I've personally done veneers on both my wife and both of my parents. That is a testament to how much I think that it can benefit the aesthetics.
Do you find yourself wishing that you could improve every cosmetic flaw in your smile? Did you know that porcelain veneers and Lumineers can make this dream into a reality? It’s true — dental veneers are custom cosmetic enhancements that are capable of concealing many imperfections, including permanent discoloration, cracks, chips, and improperly spaced teeth. Our Norton Shores, Mi dentist understands that the appearance of your smile is important to your professional and social well-being. Since an attractive smile is an important asset, our dental practice offers cosmetic services including porcelain veneers and Lumineers.
Below we have provided some general information regarding both types of veneers and how they can help you. Please contact our Norton Shores, MI dentist with any questions or concerns you may have. Community Shores Dental team will be happy to help.
An Overview of Porcelain Veneers
Dental veneers are used as permanent coverings that conceal visible flaws. These super-thin, tooth-shaped enhancements are bonded over the front of teeth to produce a uniform smile free of visible flaws. Crafted from the highest quality porcelain, veneers are custom made just for you by trained dental technicians.
Receiving dental veneers is an easy process that requires two visits to our practice. The first visit consists of tooth preparation, a process where a tiny layer of tooth enamel is removed from teeth. This is done so that veneers blend in seamlessly with the shape of existing tooth structure and the natural curved shape of the mouth. Once this process is complete, your dentist will take molds. Molds are used to determine the specifications of each veneer.
Once the dental veneers are ready, you will return to our office for the placement process. Placing veneers is quick and easy — we simply check for a good fit and then bond directly in place. This process is entirely painless and will leave you with beautiful, permanent results.
Lumineers, Another Option For A Total Smile Makeover
Lumineers have been marked as a technique for doing veneers with no preparation of the tooth. Depending on the person, this may or may not be possible, but you can make veneers very, very thin. That's what the Lumineers have been marketed for. They can be as thin as .3 millimeters, which is very, very thin. They're like a contact lens. When cemented appropriately, they're very strong and can give somebody an option to redo their smile without actually getting anything significantly changed with the underlying tooth structure.
Lumineers veneers are similar to traditional porcelain veneers. They are made from porcelain and permanently cover teeth to conceal flaws. The difference, however, is that Lumineers require little to no tooth preparation because they are thinner than traditional veneers. This means that a smaller layer of enamel needs to be removed (or possibly none at all), leaving in tact even more of your natural tooth.
Even though they are thinner, Lumineers still produce beautiful, high-quality results. Talk to Norton Shores, MI dentist to determine what type of dental veneers is right for your specific situation.
