Alexis has three years of experience working as a dental assistant and front office assistant. She is certified in digital X-rays and CPR. She holds an associate’s degree and is currently working on a bachelor’s degree at Ferris State University. Alexis enjoys working at Community Shores Dental because each day is different and comes with a new set of challenges. She loves helping patients overcome their dental problems and building lifelong relationships. When she’s not busy scheduling patient care, she’s spending time with her husband – they are adventurers – running, shopping, or heading to the beach.
Brittany joined our team toward the end of 2016 as our communications assistant. She is here to help you have a better experience and to find out what is on our patients’ minds. She really enjoys her new career at Community Shores Dental because of the fast-paced work environment. Brittany also enjoys spending time with her husband and going on bike rides through their neighborhood.
Katie Chmelik is joining us as a receptionist at the front desk. Katie graduated from GVSU in 2012 with Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations and Advertising. She is married and has one son, with plans to expand her family in the future. Katie also enjoys spending time with her family, working out, and traveling.
Do you have a question about dental insurance? Ask Teresa! She has been a member of our team since 2014 and worked as a dental assistant for 23 years before that. Her experience makes her very valuable in her role with the team. Teresa enjoys have a good work relationship with her coworkers. When she isn’t busy helping patients understand their insurance, Teresa enjoys spending time with her husband, three kids, four grandkids, and two dogs. She also likes to read a great book.
Robin has been an insurance specialist at our office since the end of 2016. If you have questions about your insurance, ask Robin! She has been working in the medical/health care field since 2006, and she really enjoys getting claims paid for our patients. Robin also loves to spend time with her family (especially her grandkids), travel, and go camping!
Alicia began her career in dentistry as an orthodontic assistant in 2012 before joining our team in 2014 as a registered dental hygienist. Alicia received her associate’s degree in dental hygiene from Ferris State University. She is also licensed as an RDH and has completed additional training in local anesthesia, nitrous oxide analgesia, laser dentistry, and Zoom whitening. Alicia enjoys getting to know each patient and educating them about how to achieve a healthy, beautiful smile. In her free time, Alicia loves to spend time with her family and friends, take her border collie (Tucker) on walks, go kayaking, be outdoors, and be creative.
Brittany has experience in many areas of dentistry. She began her career in 2004. She spent six years as a receptionist and clerical assistant before becoming a hygienist and has been with Community Shores Dental since 2011. Brittany earned her degree in dental hygiene from Ferris State University as well as certification in local anesthesia and nitrous oxide analgesia. She has also trained in Zoom whitening, basic life support, and laser therapy. Brittany likes getting to know her patients and helping them have happy, healthy smiles. When away from the office, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to church, crafting, and loving on her golden retriever, Bentley.
Jennifer has been creating healthier smiles at Community Shores Dental since 2012. She received her associate’s degree in dental hygiene from Ferris State University. She went on to receive certification in local anesthesia and nitrous oxide analgesia as well as additional training in laser therapy and basic life support. Jennifer enjoys getting to know patients and making them feel more confident with their smiles. She also loves to spend time with her husband and son, Asher, travel around Michigan, spend time with friends and family, and decorate her home.
Edie has been a part of our Community Shores Dental family since 2008. She greatly values her time in our office and continually works to improve her ability through continuing education courses. Edie also enjoys being able to help patients improve their oral health through education. In her free time, Edie loves to spend time with her husband, two sons, daughter, and daughter-in-law. She also likes working on her family’s blueberry farm, tending to her own vegetable garden, skiing, and vacuuming.
Since 2014, Kirstin has been helping patients have healthier mouths as a dental hygienist on our team. She earned her associate’s degree in dental hygiene from Grand Rapids Community College and is also certified in local anesthesia and nitrous oxide analgesia. Kirstin has also completed additional training in basic life support and laser therapy. She enjoys building lifelong relationships with her patients and inspiring patients to value their oral health. When she’s not helping patients, you can find Kirstin decorating her home, traveling, and working out.
Ashley joined our team in 2013, but she has been working in dentistry since 2005 as a certified dental assistant. In addition to her assisting training, Ashley has completed several different continuing education classes and seminars. She greatly enjoys making patients happy about their smile and feel valued as a patient. When not helping patients, you can find Ashley spending time with her kids and enjoying their various sports and activities.
Lacey joined our team in February 2016 as a dental assistant, but she has been working in dentistry since 2010. She received her certification through the Ross Medical Dental Assisting program and is also certified in X-ray and CPR. Lacey enjoys working in dentistry because of the variety of patients she gets to see. She may begin the day with a geriatric patient and end with a young child! When she is away from the office, Lacey enjoys eating, kayaking, fishing, and working in her flower garden.
